Letter to Parents sent home on Friday, August 29

Dear Parents,

This has been a great week! I have been so pleased with your children’s positive attitudes and teachable spirit. Your children have been so respectful and responsible in the classroom. Everyone finished their work and even had a positive attitude about it.
We spent much of this past week reviewing material from last year; however, this coming week we will begin covering new material in almost every subject. Spelling tests will begin this week. Spelling tests will be every Friday. We will take a pre-test on Thursday’s; if your child receives 100%, then he/she will not need to take the test on Friday. If he/she misses a word or definition in the pre-test, then he/she will take the test on Friday. The word lists are long and contain some difficult words; it will be necessary to practice these words at home if your child’s goal is to receive an A in Spelling this year. I will be including the spelling list in your child’s assignment binder each week.
We will be learning parts of speech and how to diagram them in Grammar, and we will be covering classic literature in Reading.
I will be teaching history from a Christian worldview. We will be using Harcourt Horizons World History as a text book only in the areas that conform to a Christian perspective of history. We will be covering early settlements and cities in the following weeks. Sumer, Jericho, and Ur will be a part of our studies.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call, or set up a time to meet with me.
As you may know, I have had available bananas and apples for snacks in the classroom, and they have been a huge success, so much so that I need to ask for your help. Would you consider helping me to continue providing this healthy snack by occasionally sending apples or bananas or some other fruit to help keep our basket full?
Again, thank you for your prayers. I know it is by God’s grace alone that this week has gone so well.

In His Love,

Mrs. Mary
